Welcome to the Alumni Association of Wake Forest

After dragging out 25 loads of trash, hauling out my clothes, making sure my laptops were secure and cleaning up Polo 302, I ended my last official connection as a student of Wake Forest.

It’s weird — I was talking to a friend tonight and he said that while it’s awesome to be free, it is, at the same time, pretty lonely. And I feel the same way.

After what seems to be one big celebration, everyone scatters like ants. They’re distracted with moving and packing and whatever…and then they disappear.

But there’s no excuse not to stay in touch with the people that mean something. Someone doesn’t have to be your girlfriend or your best friend for you to keep tabs on them. So do it (but don’t be a stalker). It’s important, and it’s so easy today.

Thanks everyone. If you don’t have my contact information and want it, just email me: mail at scotthurff dot com.

Goodbye, Wake Forest

I made it.

My undergraduate career is over.  Four years at Wake Forest has certainly flown by (just like everyone always says — ‘wow, that went sooo fast’), and it’s been fantastic.

And so, I must close with the “Deacon Fight Song:”

O here’s to Wake Forest A glass of the finest
Red ruddy, Rhenish filled up to the brim.
Her sons they are many
Unrivaled by any
With hearts o’erflowing, we will sing a hymn.

(Chorus) Rah! Rah! Wake Forest Rah!
Old Alma Mater’s sons are we.
We’ll herald the story
And die for her glory,
Old Gold and Black is ever waving high.

As frosh we adore her
As sophs we explore her
And carve our names upon her ancient walls.
As juniors patrol her
As seniors extol her
And weep to leave fore’er her sacred halls.
