Groupvine redesign project: finished for now

Well, it took me a few weeks, but I just finished the redesign of Groupvine’s marketing site.  It was something I’d wanted to do for a while and I think the results are positive.

The last design was pretty bland, and, while straightforward, was largely no-frills.  I added some “spice” with more graphics on the index page and introduced more color to make it more interesting.  I also tried to minimize scrolling and shrink the space in which the site communicated initial and essential information.

Of note — you can now sign up your group!  While it isn’t a full-fledged system yet (a “real” signup system is undergoing development right now), you no longer have to open up your email program and ask for an account.  Oh, the little things in life!

There are, additionally, some new features under development.

End shameless Groupvine / self-promotion.

Buzzmarket my survey and help me out

Over on the Groupvine Blog I just posted a survey intended to capture not only the opinions of people using my lovely product, but to get an idea of what to focus on in the next round of product development.

It’s not only really easy to make a survey these days, but it’s easy as cake to get it out to people. And after reading a passage in Buzzmarketing about customer feedback, I created a survey within an hour of reading the passage.

I recommend Wufoo and Surveymonkey for surveys.  My only reservation about using Wufoo is an inability to create “Other” fields for questions where you may not have thought about all the potential answers.  The interface, though, is much smoother than Surveymonkey’s, and you can create customized (and beautiful) reports to analyze the data.

What I’m doing is posting the survey on the GV blog, sending it to a list of GV newsletter subscribers, and randomly selecting 100 people signed up for Groupvine to take the survey.

If you’ve ever used Groupvine and have the ability to form opinions, then go take the survey now and help out a friend. ;)

Database refreshed

Somehow I changed my database password and forgot to update it on the blog — so now we’re back online.  Thanks for watching.
